We are here to encourage and help you take ownership of your reproductive timeline

The advancement of reproductive technologies has made it possible for women to make proactive decisions on when and how to build a family.

Modern women are demanding more and they deserve more when it comes to reproductive health and fertility options. Yet, society offers little support for those who seek beyond traditional paths of family building and there is still much to empower women in their fertility and maternity journeys.

In the effort of achieving gender equality, especially in the workplace, childbearing is the elephant in the room. According to the World Economic Forum, having children commonly impacts women negatively with the “motherhood penalty” making up 80% of the gender pay gap.

Obviously, the road to female empowerment entails many transformations but we cannot deny the significance of improving women’s health. Especially in Asia, where the talk seem to emphasise the declining birth rate, we should focus on overcoming the challenges experienced in the fertility and maternity processes.

We believe that discussions around the fertility journey should be more open and the support should be holistic.

The fertility journey is not talked about sufficiently and openly. There is still stigma related to fertility, sub-fertility and infertility so conversations on these topics are often relegated behind closed doors. We want to change that.

Moreover, the struggles of family building are not only shouldered by women, men are important and equal partners when it comes to conceiving and beyond. Globally, one in six people experience infertility in their lifetime. So when it comes to fertility, both men and women would benefit from more support and resources.

We started Sow to provide resources and support to people who are interested in taking an active role in managing their fertility timeline and approach. We also share stories of those who have undergone different fertility treatments so you can hear the diversity of motivations and experiences.

Similar to any other aspects of their lives, we want women empowered and supported to determine what is right for themselves at their own pace and on their own terms.

About Sow Fertility

After undergoing her own fertility journey in 2022, Dawn Chan realised that there is an information gap and lack of community support for people in Asia who are navigating their fertility journeys.

Drawing from her personal experience and working with other medical and wellness professionals, she founded Sow Fertility to advocate for change on the topic of family building and reproductive health and offer resources and services to improve experiences and outcomes of fertility and maternity journeys.
